Ohio Polymer Summit 2008

The biennial Ohio Polymer Summit will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2008. This gathering of the leaders in Ohio's rubber, plastics, sealants, adhesives and other polymer industries will provide important information about the industry's future and a chance to network with those who are shaping that future. Learn more or register to attend. This is a great opportunity to get your name in front of the polymer industry in Ohio. Sign up as a sponsor or exhibitor now.

See the events page for other polymer-related events around the state.

Student Registration Procedure

Go to www.thirdfrontierintern.ohio.gov to apply for an Internship

Click on "Students".

Follow the instructions on the screen to:

    * review the Internship Program Objectives and Guidelines
    * electronically sign the agreement
    * complete a student profile
    * select a user name and password
    * apply for an internship in all categories for which you are qualified.

Each application will be listed only under the category that you select on your application. You may apply in any category in which you are qualified.  For example, if you are qualified in Advanced Materials and in Advanced Manufacturing, complete an application in both categories.

Under "Your qualifications," include information that will help the employer understand your career interests as well as your major field of study.

The Internship Process

Students can review company postings for internships and find one that is interesting.   Using the company contact information, call, email or write the company to indicate your interest.

Employers seeking interns will see a list of only the students who have applied in the categories under which the employer has posted internships. The employer can click on a student name to review the student's application.  After reviewing potential interns, the employer can contact the student using the information provided in the student's application. Some employers will have a phone interview to learn about the student's interests and background. Others may ask the student to visit.

Offer/Acceptance. When the employer makes an offer for the internship and the student accepts, the employer will go on the www.ohio3fip.com web site to "make a match". When the match is made, an email is sent to the student, PolymerOhio, and the employer notifying each that the match has been made. Another email goes to the student's school to confirm that the student is in good standing.

When the match is made, the student's application will be removed and the employer's posting is removed to prevent duplication in hiring for an internship.
