Industry Pioneers Will Be Honored in a Ceremony during the Opening Gala on Sunday of NPE2012 Week at Rosen Shingle Creek Hotel in Orlando, Florida
WASHINGTON, DC, U.S.A., February 6, 2012: Ten pioneers who achieved advances in plastics technology and business development will be inducted into the Plastics Hall of Fame at a gala banquet during NPE2012, it was announced today by SPI: The Plastics Industry Trade Association. Produced by SPI, NPE2012 will take place April 1-5 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL.

Ohio’s Shale Future Print E-mail

Recent news that eastern Ohio’s natural gas deposits could be worth $20 billion was big news when Gov. John Kasich announced this prediction recently in conjunction with the jobs potential it represents. His much-quoted line, “I don’t want any foreigners working on wellheads…that is, people who come from Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia and Kentucky, and those distant foreigners from Texas,” spurred humor and a tone of seriousness. Although Ohio is a long way from a massive natural gas industry, the U.S. Geological Survey did update its estimates in August 2011 for the Marcellus Shale region underlying New York, Pennsylvania and Ohio, saying it contains 84 trillion cubic feet of undiscovered, recoverable natural gas. Chesapeake Energy Corporation would play a key role in the Marcellus Shale venture.

PolymerOhio in partnership with JobsOhio , the City of Akron, TeamNEO and others, is poised to participate in “the event” of the plastics industry, The National Plastics Exposition (NPE 2012) from April 1 to 5, 2012 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. 

Upwards of 66,000 professionals / attendees from every sector of the industry and over 100 countries will have the opportunity to visit nearly 2000 exhibitors located in almost a million square feet of exhibition space. Themed as “Breaking the Mold,” NPE 2012 promises to bring together the people, processes, and products needed for success. 

PolymerOhio and the Ohio team’s objective is to discuss with attending companies the benefits of locating their businesses in Ohio. 

David Mustine, General Manager for JobsOhio, will be giving a brief talk during the reception on Wednesday evening, April 4th, about Ohio and the opportunities it provides for companies. The reception will be in the West Hall meeting room.

Bio100 Technologies: Advances in Polyol Technology Print E-mail

Bio100 Technologies, formerly Poly Green Technologies, LLC, was founded in spring, 2009 through a collaborative effort based on the work of Dr. Yebo Li, a bioprocess/biosystems engineer in the Department of Food, Agricultural & Biological Engineering at OARDC/OSU, The Ohio State University’s Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center in Wooster, Ohio. After an initial period of exploring the technology, which derives a biopolyol from agricultural-based waste products, the company applied for and won a TechGenesis Technology Grant from TechColumbus.
