Polyvinylchloride is a very common material for home plumbing since it can easily be cut and joined. It is also widely used as a wire insulation for electric cords, because of its flame retardant so it adds safety for electrical uses. Shower curtains, raincoats, furniture and automotive trim are often made of vinyl as well.
